How to vacuum your entire house in 17 minutes or less

dyson-v6-absolute

Well, Christmas has come early to the Domesblissity household. I was so very fortunate to have received the latest in vacuuming technology from Dyson, the market leaders in the most powerful, cordless, stick vacuums.

Having seen the Dyson V6 Absolute Handstick Cordless Vacuum in action at the recent Good Food & Wine Show in Brisbane, I got to see first hand, the powerful V6 digital motor in action for myself. This version of the Dyson cordless vacuum, comes with 2 cleaning heads, which work on hard floors or carpet.

From large debris to fine dust (or flour in my case), the patented cyclone technology and an entirely re-invented cleaner head captures it all.

A highly efficient post-motor filter expels air cleaner than the air you breathe.

But the best part about it for me is that the Dyson V6 has a trigger grip that releases instantly so you’re not wasting charge as you’re moving from room to room or changing the cleaning head or the cleaning attachments. I’ve got a 3 level house and there’s polished timber floors, tiles and carpet and the Dyson makes light work of all surfaces without having to change cleaning heads. If I pick up all the mats (and Lego) off the floor, I can vacuum my entire home in 17 minutes or less. That’s the amount of time a fully charged V6 will retain power.

There is a ‘max mode’ which lasts for 6 minutes for those really difficult tasks when you need increased suction power. I haven’t had to use that yet but knowing my family, they will surely spill something on the floor that will require some boosted power.

I’d like to thank Santa Dyson for this wonderful gift and for making my life easier. Just think what else you could do with all that extra time without having to lug around your old vacuum, plugging and unplugging as you move from room to room? Hmmm, let me think?

Dyson Spring Cleaning Challenge

source

Will somebody stop the clock! I don’t know about you but this year has just whizzed by, before my eyes. Back on August 21 this year, I blogged and shared this fantastic Spring Cleaning schedule I was going to use to blitz through the Spring Cleaning in my house. Ha! Like that happened! Here I was in October and still hadn’t done it, that was until I received an offer to trial the new Dyson Digital Slim™ DC59 vacuum. I jumped at the chance. I could use all the help I could get.

Forget pesky cords and bulky cleaners. The latest
Dyson Digital Slim™ DC59 vacuum is lightweight, cordless, and packs the same
power as a mains vacuum cleaner. With 20 minutes of powerful suction, DC59 is light and easy to manoeuvre between high, low and hard to reach
spaces. No more fiddling about with plugs or
tripping over cords. Simply remove from the docking station and go.
James Dyson said, “Our digital
motors create new technological possibilities. The V6 motor is faster and
stronger than its predecessor with a higher power density; giving DC59 the
performance of a mains powered machine – without being tethered to the wall.”
Integrated motor technology: the new V6 motor was engineered specifically for this machine. One and
a half times more powerful than the previous motor, it draws more power from
the battery source. Nothing wasted.
2 Tier Radial™ cyclones: 15 cyclones work in parallel across
two tiers to capture fine dust. Dyson engineers
ensured an equal flow of air throughout the cyclone pack, by engineering the
airways, to guarantee constant centrifugal forces and high dust separation.
Tough on dust and dirt: a newly
configured motorhead tackles dust and dirt on any surface. Carbon fibre antistatic
bristles reduce the build-up of static charge, aiding capture of fine dust on
hard floors. Nylon bristles work to trap ground-in dirt from carpets.
Light, versatile and easy to store: a small, light, power dense motor in the
hand, instead of at the floor, makes it easy to clean up top, down low and in
between spaces. The lightweight aluminium wand can be detached for stairs, upholstery, cars
and other compact spaces. And storage is hassle free with a wall mounted
docking station.

With my helper in tow, we were off for the challenge with our Dyson and attachments. (Unfortunately there’s nowhere to store the attachments on board but I just stuck them in my back pocket. I guess if you sacrifice size and portability something has to give.)

First place to tackle was the couch. I’ve told my kids, “no feet on the lounge”, “don’t eat on the lounge”, “don’t draw on the lounge” etc etc and this still happens. I swear I could fill 10 sandpits with the amount of sand my kids have brought home from kindy and school over the years.

Using both the normal motorised cleaning head and smaller bristled extension, the Dyson made light work of this mess.
We’ll see how long this can be kept clean.
Next big job was along the edge of the skirting boards. I often leave this when I do a quick vacuum and its often neglected.
The handy crevice tool got right into the edge. It has also been designed to easily clean sliding door and window tracks. (That’s the next job on my big list.)
Along with a quick vacuum and wipe over, the dust is gone.
I’m actually ripping up the carpet and having the floorboards polished. The Dyson DC59 works wonders over both carpeted and hard or tiled floors. My daughter loved having a turn. I wonder if I can make this a regular thing with her?
Fors:
  • Excellent suction on both carpeted and hard floors.
  • Compact, lightweight design.
  • Ease of use for putting together and removing blockages.
  • Adequate power usage for a cordless vacuum if doing daily quick cleans.
Cons:
  • No onboard storage for attachments.
  • Small dust capacity (especially at my place).
  • Limited power usage which maybe problematic if doing larger cleans.
I’ve always loved my Dyson vacuum and they’ve won me over. The latest Dyson Digital Slim™ DC59 vacuum is lightweight, cordless, and packs the same power as a mains vacuum cleaner. RRP $649 for the Animal model and $599 for the Multi floor. Find the new Dyson Digital Slim at www.Dyson.com.au.
