Hi there! My name's Anne and I'm now a retired mother of 2 young adults who've moved out of home and I'm living with my husband in the outer suburbs of Brisbane.
This has allowed me to live a life I love which I've felt I haven't been deprived of anything. Sure, I've got to save for my bills, cut back on the groceries I used to buy but I never think I'm missing out.
I've often asked my kids if they felt like they were missing out when they were young children and they said they didn't know any different.
We went on short holidays, had days at the cinema (or even better "Saturday Night Movie Night" which went for years). They got most of what they asked Santa for Christmas which didn't cost me the earth.
We still eat really well and I think of all ingredients as just food. Not poverty meals, poor food or anything else. It's just food cooked in a really simple way with simple ingredients that tastes good.
I've retired now but have just restarted the Domesblissity website to share more about how now, more than ever, times are tough but there are ways you can get by when everything seems to be against you.
There are a lot of old posts on the website. You just need to enter the details into the "Search" field to the right of the page, eg "cake recipes".
Feel free to send me any questions about what you might be having difficulties with as it relates to household finances and money management.
You can contact me at domesblissity at gmail dot com.

It's good to finally get a face to attach to the awesome content. I couldn't agree more about the comfy home comment. I used to be trendy, now I am way more "function over form"!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the blog Anne. Really enjoyed reading about someone real down to earth. I am the same. I am a 52 year old mum of four kids. The oldest being 27 and the youngest 10.

I wondered if I could use the image of your strawberry cake on my website in celebration of my love of cake. Of course I would site the source. It's one of the prettiest pink cakes I've seen in Google images, and would look lovely on my site. I'm using an image of a cake from the free domain now and it doesn't really compliment my site. I am a writer with a humor site, primarily used to promote my book Mean-Spirited tales. Cake-eating is part of my identity. My site is 1800ukillme. Please let me know if this would be okay with you. If not I completely understand.
ReplyDeleteKind regards,
Sandee
I love how you have an descriptor about yourself for every letter of domesblissity! So clever :-)
ReplyDeleteHello Anne,
ReplyDeleteI am in love with your blog! Can I put you on my blog roll? I have a private blog - that I will send you an invite to (so you can see I am not too crazy lol).
Have a great Day
Elizabeth :-)
So nice to meet you Anne. You have your hands full. I also had my 2 younger children when I was in my late 30's. Yes, they are a handful but I like to think they keep us young.
