The trouble is with the worldwide web is that you get to see what the rest of the world is cooking and eating. We pretty much have access to a lot of ingredients from many cuisines here in Australia but one that has been evading me is chipotle chillies.
A chipotle is a smoke-dried jalapeƱo chilli used predominantly in Mexican food. It has a beautiful smoky flavour with the heat of chilli. I LOVE it! It comes in varying degrees of heat. I can’t find it in a ground spice form on the supermarket shelves and haven’t looked too hard online but I have found some products that feature chipotle that I wanted to share with you if you like that smoky, spicy flavour. (This isn’t a sponsored post but I just wanted share.)

The first one is from Alana’s Pantry. A Spicy Mexico sauce containing smoky chipotle, tomato and paprika. I’m onto my second of this beauty.
Alana (Lowes) is an ex Australian Masterchef contestant who came third in Series 3. This is a ‘medium’ sauce but a little on the spicy side for the uninitiated (not that I like it too hot). This is delicious on any kind of meat or mixed with a little
http://theciviccommons.com/user/brobby-paulsen sour cream or cream cheese to be used as a dip or put on tacos, fajitas or any other Mexican food.
This is a relatively new one to me but very delicious as well. I love to pour this on any salad I have or dip potato wedges into it. Also lovely served with fish or other seafood. Not too spicy at all.
And this little baby is my absolute favourite. At just over $4 it isn’t cheap but I look for it on sale. This is perfect on its on, with vegies as a dip, mixed with sour cream/cream cheese as a dip, on nachos or any other Mexican food. I adore it.
I’ve since found it online but I think I might have to use these ones up first before I go experimenting on trying to make my own chipotle flavoured recipes. If you do have access to it, check out some of these lovely recipes.
