The new 'me' (or did I just find the old me?)

It's hard to take a photo of yourself in the mirror.

Today was the day I think I found the old me. She was hanging out at the shops. (Which was probably a place she used to hang out at a lot before she had kids.) I had a completely new hair style and colour and when I looked in the mirror, there I was. The old me. I felt like a million dollars and like a brand new person. Just the what the doctor ordered after a few 'down' weeks and illnesses.

After that I had an appointment with a naturopath. Everything she said just made sense. I'd tried natural therapies many times over the years and anyone knows "prevention is better than cure". It's about time I started putting some precautions in place so I'm in better health.  Seven years is long enough to be putting everyone else before me and it's time to start looking after myself first.

Because of my low iron levels, I'm taking a herbal liquid iron extract, full of extra vitamins and minerals. There's a multi 'B' vitamin and also a natural anti-depressant. The anti-depressant contains "Sam-e" or S-Adenosyl methionine which enhances natural levels of serotonin in the body. Besides that I'm going to reduce my dairy and gluten intake (yeah, good luck - just kidding), start a diary with a basic plan on it each day so I know what's on the agenda for the day (gosh knows, I used to do that day in, day out for work) and take a little walk and enjoy my beautiful surroundings.

I was also told to reduce my caffeine intake. Yikes! Oh well. Just lucky I love herbal tea. These 3 packs were on special today.  I'm due to go back in a fortnight but this positive frame of mind I'm in already, I think I'm already half way there.

  2. Good for you!! I personally would find cutting back caffeine the hardest! You'll have to start baking using lots of almond and hazelnut meal! Yum.

Congratulations on over 100 followers too!
