The day fell on a Sunday so I had a nice relaxing day. The kids had gone shopping with Dad, who bought me a cookbook which was a recommendation from a foodie friend, Katrina Higham called "Serendip" by Peter Kuruvita, chef and co-owner of "The Flying Fish" in Sydney, Australia. A wonderful 'coffee table' style cookbook with a history of his Sri Lankan background, stories and pictures from his childhood and easy to follow, scrumptious Sri Lankan recipes. I'm waiting for the weather to get a bit cooler before I start getting into some of the lovely curries and spiced dishes.

My husband let the kids pick out a birthday cake and my daughter picked out this one which she said I would absolutely love! The candles are looking a little second hand. (Bit like me!)
My daughter drew me lots of pictures and cards and made a little book and my son made me a paper bead necklace at Kindy, which I wore out one day. They picked this card out for me. I'm not sure they realised the close association with a worn out, 47 year old Mum of a 6 and a 4 year old and a prehistoric dinosaur, but it was received with heart felt thanks and lots of love. Those kids of mine!
