“I have started off getting them to help me cook cakes, which they love. My daughter surprised me the other day, she made me a salad, tomato, cheese, carrot, lettuce, mayo, sweet chilli and orange juice all mixed together, all the things I live, but I have never had them all in one dish before!!! At least she wants to cook, and I will certainly be encouraging that.”

“My little girl has been baking with me since she was a baby, but now I am trying to interest her more in helping with dinner and vegetable prep to encourage her to try ‘new’ foods and expand her picky toddler food repertoire!”

“My kids peel the vegetables, my 12 year old cuts the potatoes and my other 2 ages 9&8 take turns cutting the carrots, zucchini etc….the process scares me no end so those child friendly cutter would be great, for them and me.”

Late last year I received a bag of goodies at one of the functions I attended and in it were these three knives. I hadn’t heard of them before but being named Kiddies Food Kutter I knew they had to be for the kids.

My children, now aged 8 and 6, have been helping me in the kitchen for about the last 4 to 5 years. As a child, my sisters and I helped Mum all the time. We were always prepping vegetables, making biscuits and cakes, sweets and just helping to get the dinner on the table. I was always a little worried giving the kids a vegetable knife but thought they should learn to use it anyway. We did as kids but oh so many knicks and cuts in our fingers.

I couldn’t be happier with the Kiddies Food Kutter. “The knife that cuts food NOT fingers!” You can run your finger along the blade and its not sharp but the serated edge cuts through the toughest ingredients like carrots, apples, potatoes etc.

My days of cutting the kid’s meat is over as they also use the Kiddies Food Kutter at dinner time. At this rate, I’ll have them making their own school lunches and maybe even making me something to eat! (Wishful thinking.)

I’ve got three sets of three Kiddies Food Kutters to give away. All you have to do is tell me in the comments below how you get your children to help in the kitchen and like the Kiddies Food Kutter Facebook page. Competition open to Australian residents only, sorry. Good luck!  With these knives in your kitchen, you’ll have those junior Masterchefs helping out in no time. Competition closes 12pm AEDST (Brisbane time) on Friday, 22 February 2013. (Remember to leave your email address in the comments so I can contact you if you win.)

Disclaimer: I received a set of Kiddies Food Kutters. All thoughts, photos and opinions are my own.
