My second Mother’s Day without my Mum but I’m not as sad this year. I’ve learnt to recognise the signs that she’s near and I know that’s often. This year I remembered that I’m a Mum and of all the lessons she taught me, the one that is the most clear is how to be there for your children and that’s what I’m doing. Celebrating her life and remembering the good times! (Oh, and we’re having Mandarin Cakes with a cuppa, just for you Mum.)
And I still miss having you near.
You were the best mum you could be,
And I never once doubted your love for me.
Crying and wishing you were here,
But instead I choose to celebrate your life,
A life I still hold so dear.
Than stand here with tears in my eyes.
So I’ll do my best to honor your memory,
And you’ll live on as long as I am alive.

My son bought a little gift for me from his Mother’s Day stall at his school on Wednesday this week and must’ve asked me a million times is tomorrow Mother’s Day. He also hid the little gift in his wardrobe and scrunched up all his clothes around it and made a point of telling me not to go anywhere near it. His sister had a little peak at what it was and said “Oh, perfect! Mummy will love that cup holding those things she loves to eat!” Hmmmm? Wonder what it could be? I love those crazy kids!
