Lenard's Chicken Blogger's BBQ

The kids and I were lucky enough to be invited to the first official blogger’s event hosted by Jacqui Honeywood from B-Brand and sponsored by Australia’s major fresh chicken franchise, Lenard’s Chicken. The event was held at Orleigh Park, West End, just on the Brisbane River and after weeks and weeks of rain, we were treated to a really glorious warm, sunny day.

The staff from Lenard’s were on hand at all times, happy to share product info, pass a cool drink, made sure the kids were occupied with a jumping castle and a group who organised games for the kids. They were truly passionate about their products and excited with the new range on offer.

Soon after arriving we were treated to a beautiful barbecue of their different chicken products (I had the char-grill tomato chilli jam breast steak) with salads, bread rolls and all the condiments.

We were given a cooking demonstration on one of Lenard’s new products, a Korean BBQ Meal Kit.  In the kit you’ll find 900grams of chicken breast, vegetables, marinade and 400 grams Hokkien noodles, all ready to go. It was absolutely delicious and would be a great one to freeze or have for leftovers.

There were chicken kebabs for souvlaki and a fajita station complete with tortillas, sour cream, lettuce and tomato.

The kids weren’t forgotten either with Lenard’s famous “Lenny Pops”.

We were also given a packet of their ready made, heat in the microwave chicken gravy and ready made simmer sauces (I’ve got the green Thai curry to try) to take home and I can’t wait to give them a try. Lenard’s also have a ‘shop online’ option available on their website where you order online and pick up from store.

Prior to the event, we were given a gift voucher to buy products to try from our local Lenard’s store. I got so many things I’d never even heard of because, I have to admit, I didn’t ever visit the store because I just don’t like ready made things. I spotted the Greek flavoured split bird (size 15 chicken for only $12.99). Check out all that chunky garlic and real lemon slices. A cooked chook from the deli is around $10 and it wouldn’t have anywhere near as much flavour as what this did.

I baked it in the oven and it came out with the same lovely char as if you’d cooked it on the barbecue. I served it with a Greek salad and potatoes. The chicken was deliciously moist and it was a really tasty dish. I’ve picked up some other things and stay tuned for another recipe this week.

Jacqui and Mr Lenard

Thanks Jacqui and thanks Lenard’s for a lovely event. Oh, and it was great to catch up with some other Brisbane bloggers I’d never met in person before plus a few I had a while ago. A great day out.
