A little secret

I've been harbouring a little secret. Will not 'harbouring' as such. Probably more to the point of whether I should blog about it or what people might think of me. My husband left our marriage back in mid January. Now, don't so 'ohh' or have pity on me. It was a mutual decision. I've basically been single for quite a few years while we've both been living together in the house. It's been a hard slog but one that I managed quite well on my own.

If you would've told me over 13 years ago we wouldn't be together, I would've laughed myself silly. For whatever the reasons are, how it broke down, whose fault it was, I'll never truly know. I was too busy raising two children for the last 7 of them. They're my world and my focus 100% of the time now.

I hope I didn't send out any misconceptions of being a happily married woman up until this point. The only impression I'd like to send out is I'm a happy, content Mum of two of the most wonderful children anyone could ever wish for.

I've still got a long way to go before I'm totally over it but getting there. I'm getting counselling for both the marriage breakdown and my mother's death and once I'm through, I'll be fitter and healthier of mind, body and spirit than I ever have before.

Thanks for sticking by me through this. And honestly, I'm really okay. Love to you all.

  10. Thanks for sharing Anne and you know I have to say I am sorry! Not that I have pity for you or anything like that but that you have 2 difficult things to get through right now. It doesn't matter how long you've been having difficulties, it is still hard once it is over. Give your kiddos an extra hug from America and know that I care!

  11. This may be really the beginning of alot of happiness for you in regards to being single now. When I divorced many people did the "ohh I'm sorry" and I kept saying, no it's okay I'm very happy --- I'd felt like a single mother for years! Little did I know, my life just got happier and happier! So good luck to you, this is a good beginning!

  12. My mum broke similar news to me on the weekend. Appears she too was unhappy in her marriage, who'd have thought. Not me. I don't think people go out with the intention to make people think they are happily married, I think thy have the intention of trying to convince themselves of that.
I'm sure it's tough and draining, but I trust that deep down you know everyone will be happier once you turn the corner. Good luck to you, I hope you find the life you're looking for, for you and your children.

  13. Anne, you are an inspiring example of grace and dignity to me, You have handled yourself in such a classy way throughout the last few months. I only hope I can remember your example when the tough times (whatever they be) come my way. :)
