I often have tinned fruit in the pantry, in particular tinned fruit salad. There are so many things you can make with it. The obvious one is to serve chilled with ice cream.
Here’s some other ideas.
- serve with or set in jelly or custard
- trifle
- cheesecake
- fill individual meringue shells or a large pavlova with whipped cream and top with strained fruit salad
- layer in tall glasses with cream for dessert or Greek yoghurt and topped
with granola for breakfast
- puree or leave chunky and freeze in ice block moulds
- make fruit smoothies
- fill crepes or chop fruit slightly and add to pancake batter
- add to muffins
- put in a serving dish top with crumble (crisp) mix or cake batter and bake
Fruit Salad Cake (I made this with a chocolate cake mix)
Great ideas here – good idea to puree it too! Following via GFC.
What a wonderful new feature, I will be popping in with eagerness each week to see what you're "cooking up". You know you're always a life saver with great ideas and I will be paying even more attention over the coming months. We will be on the strictest and tightest food budget so I really need to come up with great money saving meals and snacks.
I've never bought that stuff. Love all your ideas with it.

I'd go with the yoghurt and muesli (my homemade, so it's got no nasties, no dried fruit and is raw) for breakfast. Actually I do happen to have a tin of fruit. It's not the coctail one, but it's a two fruits. I might make a fruit crumble and then use some left over for breakfast tomorrow morning.
Love these ideas! I am looking forward to you new series!
Hi 🙂 Found you over at On The Menu Monday. My "baby" likes a little fruit cocktail, but then I usually end up wasting the rest of the can. Then I found this~ http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2011/07/cuppa-cuppa-cake/ but I still haven't tried it yet… next time.
Hi Anne,
Fruit Cocktail is one of my favorites, these all look great. Hope you are having a great weekend and thank you so much for sharing your awesome recipes with Full Plate Thursday.
