It had been a couple weeks but there was a really, really bad smell emanating from my daughter’s bedroom. In fact, it was A-L-I-V-E! My husband had looked in the ceiling space for it, it was slowly spreading to the other rooms and it didn’t matter where we looked, we just couldn’t find it.

I had enough today and decided to strip my daughter’s room, inch by inch. The bed was dismantled and moved out, every bit of junk, every toy, every pair of pyjamas that was found under the bed, every pen, bit of paper, everything.

The dogs were scurrying around wondering what the hell was going on. My little boy came in picked something up and said “Mum, this is stinky!” AND THERE IT WAS! The putrid, stinky culprit!

It’s a boiled egg that has been wrapped in a shrink wrap and then boiled. She had taken the bloody thing up to her room and that’s where it stayed, slowly decaying, day by day, week by week. Rotten damn egg! I grabbed that thing and took it out to the garbage bin straight away and madly scrubbed her room. What a stench!

So, from now on, all Easter egg crafts brought home will be screened at the front door and if they are a food item and not eaten straight away, they’re in the damn bin!
