I am a huge believer in reading to your children, from as early as possible and whenever they request it. Whether it’s a storybook, a book about shapes or colours, the TV guide or the phone book (heaven help us), try to never refuse the opportunity to read to your children.
Now that mine are nearly 7 and 5, I’ve found after a really hectic afternoon and evening with them, the last thing I want to do is read to them. There’s the fight to get in the bath, out of the bath, brush their teeth, tidy their rooms etc etc. But when I sit down with them (or my husband) to read, I instantly forget about the problems of my day and feel a real closeness and affection with them. Sometimes, it’s just impossible to read to them. You might have an appointment or be ill and you just can’t. Hallmark have been so kind to send me a copy of one of their recordable story books where you record the sound of your own voice reading the story. It could be your voice, Dad’s, grandparents, sisters or older brothers. There are so many titles to choose from including:
- Winnie the Pooh’s Plan Bee
-
All the Ways I Love You
-
My Little Princess
-
Hey Diddle Diddle
-
Lightning McQueen & His Winning Team (the one I have to try)
and many more.
There’s nothing nicer than reading to your children, in my opinion, and it instils in them a lifelong desire to read and a curiosity for knowlege. This is the next best thing.
With thanks to Hallmark and Communicado, for your chance to win one of two recordable storybooks, please follow my blog and comment, indicating your choice of a book for a girl or a boy. For more entries, follow me on Twitter or follow me on Facebook letting me know you have. Hi Anne, as you might already know, I have boys and they LOVE to read. We just got Mr3P a book for Father's day called "Some Dads", for him to read to the pickles. It's something we've both loved growing up and really enjoy passing that along to our children. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your post today. thanks for visiting and I hope you get to make some double choc muffins.

Oooooh Anne! A giveaway, how exciting! I think reading to my children is essential as well, but I have to admit sometimes by the end of the day I'm so exhausted I barely manage to read them a book each.
I think Miss 2 would benefit from this for the longest so I would like a girl version.
I've followed you for ages but have just started following you on facebook now too!
Oooh boys please (what a surprise I know) I can't find your page on FB though? Can you share it on my page so I can like you 🙂
This is a lovely post Anne! What a great giveaway … (my boys are too old for these stories so don't enter me) and I totally agree you should try to never refuse the opportunity to read to your kiddies.
We love reading and would love the boy version for My Master – he loves lightening Mc Queen.
Ooh wow these are on our christmas wish list! We are going to get 5 of them, one for each of the kids, so that my Mum, my nanna, hubby's parents and his nanna can all record one for each of our children!

A girl book would be fabulous – I think that the idea behind these books is ingenious! If only I could be so clever haha.
