If you would’ve asked me 5 years, 1 month and 29 days ago if this day would ever come, I would have laughed at you, and lo and behold, here it is. My youngest child has gone to school for the very first time today. To make it even more exciting we’re starting at a new school so also a first day for my daughter starting Grade 2.
I was really surprised at how quickly they woke up, ate their breakfast and got dressed. My boy, in particular was way more excited than I thought he’d be. Even dropping him off, he just went on his merry way.
Me? I shed a little tear and thought he’s still too little to be going to school but he’s clearly not. Very Mr Independent and my daughter quickly found a friend from Girl Guides and sat next to her. It was all relatively painless, just like pulling a band-aid off quickly.
And gone are the days where the kids will stand nice and tall and sensible for a photo. They were goofing around so much this morning I couldn’t get a decent photo. I guess it’s a sign of the times. Better they have a sense of humour and like to goof off in front of the camera rather than be all serious. Hopefully they’ll save the serious stuff when they’re in class. Here’s wishful thinking, especially with my boy!
And me? What will I be doing on this first day out of prison, first day of freedom, with no children at home?
Happy First Day 2012 to your beautiful kidlets! I can't believe they are starting back already in QLD. Ours start Wed 1st Feb. What day did they break up there. Ours was Wed 14th Dec, so 7 wks holidays. We are still enjoying them despite the hot weather. Enjoy that cuppa and peace and quiet!
Your kids are adorable!!! Congrats on them starting school again 🙂 🙂 I think their uniforms are interesting. For the most part, kids do NOT wear uniforms to school in the States unless it's a private school of some sort. Enjoy your cup of tea…and maybe a movie, too 🙂 🙂 Freedom….just kidding 🙂 🙂 Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather 🙂
Enjoy your cuppa! It is always nice for them to go back to school but I am like you an always feel a little sad at how fast they are growing up. Thankfully all of my kids were excited to go to school so there were never any tears shed. I hope they had a wonderful day and their pictures are so cute as always!
Aww, they look so cute in their uniforms 🙂 My 3rd child starts pre school (kindy) next week, but I'll still have my youngest at home. Enjoy that cup of tea! It will be so quiet at your house 🙂
I hope you enjoyed that HOT cup of tea Anne. He does seem so little to be going to school! Love the goofing around shots. Hope they both settle in quickly. xx
Oh so sweet .Anne. Glad it all went smoothly .
Hope mine go off , and me, as easily.
Happy first day of school! I hope everyone had a wonderful beginning to a great new school year! Your kids are adorable! Be sure to hug them every day! 😀
No matter how much you look forward to that first day of school, you do kind of shed a tear when it arrives…then you get over it!
🙂
I am so glad it went well and the your daughter has a friend already there.
Oh my precious friend I am sitting here crying with you. They grow up just too too fast. All of them. Without your even knowing it they will be grown and gone all too quickly. I know. When my oldest and only son went off to college I bawled for days. Come to think of it I did when he went to kindergarten too. Now his kids are all growing up just too fast. Oh where or where does the time go.
Glad you're sitting down and having a cup of tea. Enjoy it and relax and know that your house will actually have some semblance of order for a whole 6 hours.(smile) Enjoy your sweet peace because they do come home after school all noisy and excited but to a wonderful mother with open arms and a loving heart.
Love you my dear friend!
Nann
That is too cute. I've still got a week and a half. Can't come quick enough, she is busting.
I hope you were able to enjoy your day :).
