The day I planned to wash every bit of linen on the beds turned out to be overcast so there went that plan. What’s a girl to do? Go shopping, that’s what and op shopping doesn’t cost that much so I went to one of my favourite haunts, Bay Terrace, Wynnum. No less than half a dozen op shops to look through for bargains. Its the same as any thrift store though, you have to be lucky on the day. I did manage to pick up my daughter’s and son’s entire summer wardrobe (well, a second set for Dad’s house) for under $30 but on my travels I just happened to stumble upon the most delightful little store.

The Collective Store at 78 Bay Terrace, Wynnum just happened to catch my eye as I walked past and like the siren’s song, I couldn’t help but go in and I’m so glad I did. A delightful collection of artist’s, designer’s and crafter’s works from the local area and beyond. If you’re looking for an individual, creative piece than look no further. This place made my heart skip a beat.

It was like a museum with handmade jewellry, homewares, clothing, toys and knick knacks all so beautifully made. The owner, Leonie McIntosh, herself a hobbyist silversmith, can tell you all about each piece and the designer. Likewise, if you’re a creative person yourself and looking for a place to showcase your wares, for a reasonable price, Leonie can help you out.

I’ll definitely be heading back there when I’m looking for that individual piece of jewellry, gift for that hard-to-buy-for person or cute little gift for a child.
