My kids aren’t really that into bicycles. There’s not really anywhere to ride them other then on the road up to the park. The first bikes they had were second hand and freebies. My son got a new one from Santa last Christmas and now we’ve inherited 3 more from my sister. A ladies bike, a bigger girl’s bike and a bigger boy’s bike. I just got to thinking, if these bicycles are on their way out and not much good for riding anymore what could we do with all those bicycle bits? Recycle bicycle! Check out these great ideas from the internet which I’ve recently pinned.
Bicycle chain bracelet
Bicycle chain earrings
Clock
Hangers
More hangers
Real working guitar
Bicycle inner tube shoelaces
Inner tube feather earrings
Handled bins from inner tubes

Bike Chain Bottle Opener
Bike Seat Stool
Plant stand
Very cool! My husband is totally into "old school" BMX so we have extra bike parts all over. That being said, I'm not sure how many of those I could make!
Very creative people out there.
You know I love these posts! You inspired my own roundup versions. Always so many cool ideas, thanks for the collection! 🙂
Wow. What a fun collection of ideas. I am drawn to the clocks because I love clocks, and I love industrial. Really fun stuff. Jodi @ http://www.meaningfulmama.com
Some of these are so cool.
Anne, where did you find all these amazing "bike parts" projects? I am blown away. I am very intrigued by the bottle opener…how did they make that?
oh how cool! the stools and the inner tube feather earrings are my favorite!
Marilyn Clark I am the maker of that bottle opener. My partner and I have a up-cycling business, we are now however no longer Ivy & Em but Tread & pedals. http://www.treadandpedals.com.au
Its made from a very specific kind of rear cassette cut into pieces and then a length of bike chain attached to pre-existing holes on the cassette, which need to be enlarged to fit the chain pins through. So you need a angle grinder, file, length of chain and a chain tool. Or you can visit our store or us at a market and pick yourself one up.
