I can remember my good friend Claire telling me about a microwave slice recipe and I was positive I kept a copy of it but couldn’t find it anywhere especially when I had company coming for afternoon tea and I needed something to feed the kids. I did a quick Google search and found this one on Best Recipes.
I can see this recipe being one of my favourites. Mix it all up in a dish suitable for the microwave, press down, cook for 3 minutes, allow to cool, ice and serve. I’ll add some nuts, use different flavoured icings and sprinkles, omit the cocoa, add sultanas, choc chips, dried fruit, you name it.
This is the perfect recipe for the busy Mum or for the kids to make up. (Just be careful when it comes out of the microwave as its very hot.)
3 Minute Microwave Chocolate Slice
(from www.bestrecipes.com.au)
- 1 cup self raising flour
- 1 cup coconut
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa
- 2 tbs golden syrup
- 150g butter, melted
- Mix all ingredients together in a microwave dish that will double as the slice dish. No need to grease the dish.
- Cook on medium high for 3 minutes. (I had an 1100w microwave and cooked mine for 2 minutes 30 seconds and checked then I cooked for a further 30 seconds.)
- Allow to cool slightly and ice with a simple icing of icing sugar, cocoa and milk. Top with sprinkles if desired.
Variations:
- Omit cocoa
- Add sultanas, nuts, dried fruit, chocolate chips
- Serve uniced or with a drizzle of melted chocolate
This recipe could be seriously evil for me! Can't wait to try it 🙂
I saw this on Cass's page, totally love it thanks 🙂
It is true? Could this really be so easy? Given that I am one of the world's laziest cooks, and I'm sure I have all those ingredients in my pantry, I'm going to have to try this. Tonight!
Microwaves truly are one of the wonder gadgets of the modern kitchen, aren't they Anne? 3 minutes! I might have to upgrade mine to make this slice though; ours is tiny!

This looks great! I am sure my kids would LOVE it if I did some baking again… Having a sugar free mum is taking its toll on my Miss A… she misses baking.
Thanks for this!
yum, I'll have to make it as an after school snack.
wow – seem to easy!! Going to have to try this for sure.
Genius. I will be having a GF play with this recipe for sure! Slices are the business. xx
great thx for sharing – def do this one !!!
This sounds like the perfect easy recipe! Can't wait to give it a go.
Thanks Anne so easy and simple. I tried it yesterday without coco and added sultanas and sunflowers seeds as well as a sprinkle of other seeds, it was yummo. I'm going to play around with it and try half coconut and half rolled oats. Might try cutting down the sugar but don't know how that will go? If I can do that I might end up with the easiest and quickest slice/museli bar type thing to tuck into my sons day care lunch.
I'd never heard of such a thing, but what a time saver!!!
This is my kind of baking! What a great recipe. Chocolate… yummy! Thanks for sharing this sweet treat with us at TUTORIALS TIPS AND TIDBITS!
Hi Anne,

This could be a great help when guests are coming over with short notice.
These chocolate slices simply look wonderful 🙂
In fact element is discovering insurance policy, service and areas for ones new rv. Google
Love this recipe. Instead of adding icing I put chocolate bits all over the top and the cooking ices it. I add nuts, chia, dried fruit. The butter does need to be melted to make the base firm. The blender mixes best for me. Very easy and gobbled up in quick time.
