Today, I am tackling my kid’s wardrobes and culling their clothes right back to basics. I’ve been so very, very lucky to have received a lot of hand-me-downs for both of them over the years and I quite happily accept them. Probably when they were little and at home, I might’ve gone through 2 or 3 sets of clothes, especially after meal times or toilet training mishaps. Now they are both at school, I’m finding they don’t need as many clothes.
If, like me, you love to craft, reuse, recycle and make do with items from around your house, I’d love to share more ideas with you. You can subscribe to my mailing list here and be the first to hear about new projects and other great ideas I find for using up the things in our home that may otherwise end up as landfill. Together we can help save the environment, one baby step at a time.
For five days, my children wear their school uniform, changing into play clothes when they get home and they might only have them on for an hour or so before bath time, so they wear them again for a couple days. It’s cut back on washing and wear and tear on the clothes. So what am I going to do with all of these clothes? I’ll give most of them away to friends and I’m thinking of making some of these things with the t-shirts.

Anne….What terrific ideas. It never dawned on me that you could do so many things with old T Shirts. Brilliant! I'm going to share these ideas with friends at church. Some of these ladies do amazing thing with yarns etc. and I bet they'd take some of these ideas and run with them. Also I especially like the picture of the lady with the huge pile of ironing. It made me laugh. Too cute. (And sometimes so true)
Luv u,
Nann
Awesome ideas. I don't think I'll ever donate another t-shirt to goodwill again! 😀

My youngest son is really into heavy metal and has tons of black, band T-shirts to prove it, some of which he's outgrown. His auntie is making him a personalized quilt, with each square being the centre (the logo, the artwork, if you will) of a Tshirt. He is enjoying getting to help with the personalization, and the memories he has from the concerts and such will follow him, so long as he has his new quilt!
That is something i have been looking for many days . t-shirts are the best way to enhances the personality .love the concept and ideas of yours.

It’s hard to come by knowledgeable people in this particular topic, but you sound like you know what you’re talking
about! Thanks
You have wa-ay too much time on your hands! Why not simply donate old tees and undershirts to your favorite woodworker or gear head for shop rags. They’ll be deeply appreciated and put to practical instead of whimsical use.
Thanks so much for stopping by Louis. Great comment. I totally agree. I buy 95% of my wardrobe plus my husband’s and kid’s from second hand stores. When we’ve outgrown it, I donate it straight back there where they then sort it into whether it goes back on the shop floor or gets sold for rags. This post was created to give people an idea of how to recycle t-shirts, should they wish to create everyday household items instead of buying them. I know I’d rather make cleaning rags out of old t-shirts then buy one from the store or make the tshirts into carry bags for groceries or cut into strips for a bath mat. I would never pay the ridiculous prices they charge for bath mats in the store. Thanks again for stopping by. I really appreciate it.

Nice comment, Louis. Glad you don’t have too much time on your own hands to peruse sites like this and leave critical feedback. On what basis did you determine that your hobbies are “worthier” than anything represented here? And seriously – you’d rather seen these textiles saturated with staining, acrid-smelling chemicals so they’re ruined forever?
BTW, what exactly is so whimsical – and not at all practical – about dishrags? Rugs? Quilts? Clothing in all sizes? Bibs & hats? Reusable bags that don’t end up in landfills after one use?
You did accomplish something with your comment – all the link-dropping spammers above you suddenly look a bit less slimeball-ish.
Miss Anne, I give you a lot of credit – your response was much more kind & gracious than mine would have been. I would have suggested this jackass start his own website & experience how awful people can be when they have nothing else to look forward to but criticizing others’ work.
Awww thanks Shell. Some people have more time on their hands that I do for such things. I can’t be bothered by it. I really appreciate your comment though. You’re so kind. (You made me laugh out loud.) People will make what they will out of things they find on the internet.

I am searching for an over the shoulder short jacket that doesn’t close in the front but drapes over the arm at the shoulder to tone down a sundress, sleeveless dress, etc. It was made of old t-shirts.
Hi Evelyn
I’ve emailed you about this. Thanks for getting in touch.

dried up crusty protein and preworkout crystals in the drain of the water fountain this is not your sink you disgusting theres even a sink in the bathroom, which is **also** not your dishwashing station, but it’s marginally more acceptable because I don’t have to stick my face in
I truly prize your work, Great post.
